Alliance of the Two Hearts Novena

Entrust yourself, your family, or other special intentions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In the Alliance of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary Novena, the Marians will be offering 9 days of Holy Mass in preparation for the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The expression "Alliance of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary" was coined by Pope John Paul II in his Angelus address of September 15, 1985. He exhorted the faithful to unite with the "admirable alliance" of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

In the Bible, the "heart" is not only a vital organ — it is a reference to the disposition of the whole person. The word "heart" is used in the Gospel in reference to only two individual persons: Jesus (Mt 11:29) and Mary (Lk 2:19, 51). Their two Hearts made the perfect response to the Father for the sake of our salvation. We see the pierced Hearts as an expression of that selfless love.

We turn again with trust to Jesus and Mary, to look upon us with merciful love.

Please send us your special intentions to be remembered in this novena.
