Description of Volunteer Areas for Divine Mercy Sunday Weekend

Clean-Up Post Mercy Sunday

  • Helps to clean up areas after the event.
  • Saturday and Sunday evenings, and Monday-Friday after the event.

Confessions

  • Helps keep reverence in the Confessional Line and aids Coordinators, Confessors, and Penitents.
  • 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Crowd Control

  • Controls flow of foot traffic entering the field area and at the entrance to the disabled area.
  • Controls line into the Shrine Church.
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Disabled Transport

  • Aids our disabled visitors before and during Mass.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Disabled Visitors

  • Aids our disabled visitors before and during Mass.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Enrollment, Masses and Candles

  • Should understand enrollment cards, Mass Intentions, and candle procedures.
  • 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

  • Help distribute Communion during Mass.
  • Must submit proper documentation.
  • Must wear proper attire.
  • Helps the Field Ushers.
  • Helps with Collections.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Field Usher

  • Controls flow of crowd at the Mother of Mercy Outdoor Shrine.
  • Helps with Collections.
  • 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Gift Shop

  • Assists in the Gift Shop, works at cash registers, or manages the line entering the Gift Shop.
  • 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. (Partial shifts allowed)

Holy Family Shrine

  • Helps keep reverence in the HFS, takes prayer intentions and candle donations.
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Information Tents

  • Distributes programs, and answers questions about the weekend and the Marians.
  • Saturday: 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Lourdes Grotto/Candle Shrine

  • Helps keeps reverence in the Shrine, takes prayer intentions and candle donations.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Maintenance

  • Aids the grounds crew in maintenance, tents, garbage pick-up, signs, and other tasks.
  • 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. (partial shift allowed)

First Aid

  • Helps to facilitate hospitality for medical non-emergencies, and determines emergency situations.
  • Medical Certification preferred
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Our Lady of Mercy Oratory

  • Helps keeps reverence in the Oratory and Shrine, takes prayer intentions and candle donations.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Preparation Pre-Mercy Sunday

  • Assists the Pilgrimage & Events Coordinator or Volunteer Coordinator in preparation for Mercy Weekend.
  • Hours vary

St. Faustina Oil Tent

  • Provides Blessed Oil for the pilgrims.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Satellite Parking Attendant

  • Controls vehicle traffic entering and exiting off-campus satellite parking lots.
  • Sunday: 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Shrine of the Holy Innocents

  • Helps keep reverence in the Shrine, and assist with candles and Memorials for deceased children.
  • 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sign Language Ministry

  • Translates the Masses and Field Presentation into ASL for hearing impaired.
  • ASL required
  • Saturday: 1 p.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Stations of the Cross Guard

  • Maintains reverence around the Stations of the Cross.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Traffic Control (on Eden Hill)

  • Checks cars for registration; parks cars; controls vehicle traffic entering and exiting Eden Hill.
  • 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. (partial shift allowed)

Umbrella Bearers

  • Hold umbrella for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
  • Helps the Ushers before and after Mass.
  • Helps with Collections.
  • 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Volunteer Food

  • Helps to serve a prepared Lunch on Mercy Saturday and Breakfast and Lunch on Mercy Sunday for our volunteers.
  • 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Volunteer Food Delivery

  • Helps to deliver a prepared Lunch on Mercy Saturday and Breakfast and Lunch on Mercy Sunday for our volunteers.
  • Must be familiar with the property.
  • Saturday: 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sunday: 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
